Chris Bosh added 14 points for the Heat (53-23), who were playing without Dwayne Wade, Chris Andersen and Greg Oden.

J.R. Smith led the Knicks (33-45), with 32 points on 10 made three-pointers, while setting an NBA record with 22 attempts from long range.  Carmelo Anthony chipped in 13 points but did not attempt a shot in the fourth quarter.

“You do your job and you live with the results,” James said. “We lived with the result of J.R. making some of those bombs.”

With the victory, the Heat ensured they would finish the day still ahead of the Indiana Pacers atop the East standings in the race for homecourt advantage in the playoffs.
