Lance King/Getty Images(MILWAUKEE) — Marquette introduced Duke associate head coach Steve Wojciechowski as its new head men’s basketball coach Tuesday.

The 37-year-old Wojciechowski had been part of coach Mike Krzyzewski’s staff at Duke since 1999, and was named associate head coach in 2008. During that time Duke won two national championships (2001, 2010).

Before coaching at Duke, Wojciechowski played as a guard under coach Krzyzewski.

“I wasn’t going to leave (Duke) for just any job,” Wojciechowski said. “I was only going to leave for a job that I thought is the perfect job for me, and I feel like Marquette is that place.”

Wojciechowski takes over a Marquette team that went 17-15 last season and missed the NCAA tournament for the first time in nine years.

Wojciechowski takes over for Buzz Williams, who left Marquette after this past season for the head coaching job at Virginia Tech.
