Wall Street Stocks Close with Weekly Loss

The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the day down 140 points at 16,361.46. The Nasdaq Composite dipped 75 points at 4,075.56, and the S&P 500 fell 15 points, closing at 1,863.40.

The University of Michigan’s latest Consumer Sentiment Index rose more than four points from March to April, indicating that people are feeling better about the economy.

An Environmental Protection Agency report says more cars are going green, with seven times as many vehicles reaching 40 miles per gallon compared to five years ago. The government wants all vehicles to hit 54.5 mpg by 2025.

Amazon will soon start bringing groceries to your door, announcing the beginning of a service called Prime Pantry, which will be available for Amazon Prime members. The company also reported strong sale numbers, with first quarter revenues at $19.74 billion, up 23 percent from the previous year. Still, earnings fell 19 percent to $146 million.
