Yankees Place Mark Teixeira On the DL with Hamstring Injury

Robert Rogers/MLB Photos via Getty Images(NEW YORK) — After playing in just 15 games last season, New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has landed on the disabled list once again after injuring his hamstring Friday night against the Toronto Blue Jays.
It is unknown what hte severity of the injury is, but the Yankees will be without him for at least the next couple weeks.
Teixeira missed just 16 total games his first three seasons with the Yankees, but now finds himself unable to stay on the field.
“I wanted to break everything in the clubhouse last night when I came in here, but I respect the Blue Jays organization more than that” he said. “I felt like I did everything this offseason and this spring to get my body in position to play all season.”
Allready thin on infielders, the Yankees will shift third baseman Kelly Johnson to first base. The team plans on rotating rookies Yangeris Salarte and Dean Anna at third base going forward.
