(MALAD, ID) – Crickets are causing damage to crops and pastures in Oneida County. Federal officials have counted as many as 15 crickets per square yard in some areas. The bugs don’t fly, but are known to destroy crops when found in migrating swarms. The crickets have also been observed in western Idaho where they’re thought to have laid their eggs. Those affected are encouraged to take action soon with pesticides to avoid further damage for their neighbors.
