“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” Earns $36 Million at Weekend Box Office

Fox(LOS ANGELES) — Dawn of the Planet of the Apes took the top spot at the weekend box office, earning $36 million.

The Purge: Anarchy came in second at the box office bringing in $28.4 million, while the animated Planes: Fire & Rescue followed with $18 million.

Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel’s comedy Sex Tape also opened this weekend, falling just out of the top-three with $15 million.
