Next Season Likely the Last for Lakers’ Steve Nash
Published at(NEW YORK) — Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash will suit up for his 19th NBA season in 2014-2015, and according to Nash, it will likely be his last.
“I think this is my last season. But I still love to play,” Nash told reporters. “I love to practice and work on my game. I’m going to spend hopefully many, many years living this life without basketball. So, it’ll be nice to play one more year.”
The 40-year-old Nash is likely headed to the Hall of Fame when he does retire. He’s a two-time NBA MVP during his time with the Phoenix Suns, and is also third in NBA history in assists. For his career, Nash has averaged 14.3 points and 8.5 assists per game.
Still, he’s had a hard time staying on the court in recent years. He’s missed 99 total games the past two seasons as he’s battled various injuries.
