Starting Pitchers Announced for MLB All-Star Game

SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1405372823851iStockphoto(MINNEAPOLIS) — The American League will send Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez to the mound for Tuesday night’s All-Star Game at Target Field, where he will be opposed by St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright for the National League.

On the season, Hernandez is 11-2 with a 2.12 ERA and 0.90 WHIP. He has struck out 154 batters in 144 1-3 innings of work.

Wainwright is 12-4 on the year with a 1.83 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. The righthander has struck out 115 batters in 138 innings.

New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter will bat leadoff for the AL, followed by Los Angeles Angels left fielder Mike Trout, Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano, Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera, Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista, Baltimore Orioles designated hitter Nelson Cruz, Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones, Oakland Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson and Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez.

On the NL side, Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen will leadoff, followed by Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig, Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, Miami Marlins designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton, Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez, Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley, Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy and Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Carlos Gomez.
