OREM, UT — For five innings, neither team could muster much offense off of multiple pitchers in a rhythm. Orem was able to put up a tally in each of their final three innings, while keeping Idaho Falls baffled at the plate. The Owlz hold the Chukars down in a 3-1 Greybirds loss.

Idaho Falls (33-31, 13-13) was shut down by Jeremy Rhodes to start the ballgame. The right-handed pitcher struck out four of the first five batters in the order, and retired seven straight. Kyle Pollock was the only Chukars batter to get a hit off of Rhodes in three innings. Jeremy Rhodes was replaced by Austin Robichaux (2-3) in the fourth, and continued the success. He allowed just one hit by Pollock in his three frames of work. At one point, Greybirds hitters other than Pollock were a combined 0-19.

Zach Lovvorn (2-5) kept pace in his first four innings, but finally Orem was able to score in the sixth frame. Caleb Adams reached on a bunt single, stole second, and scored on a single by Raul Lineras. The Owlz (35-28, 11-14) tacked on one more in the seventh inning on a double by Wendell Soto. Raul Lineras pushed the final Owlz run across in the eighth, with an RBI single. Lovvorn allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings.

Idaho Falls made it interesting in the ninth inning. Ryan O’Hearn homered to end the shutout, and make it a 3-1 Orem lead. Robert Pehl singles, and Mike Hill walked to put the go-ahead run to the plate. Eduardo Peredes replaced Arjenis Fernandez and got Corey Toups to line out to center field to end the ballgame.

Kyle Zimmer got the start for Idaho Falls, pitching one rehab innings. He allowed one hit and recorded his first strikeout as a member of the Chukars.

The Chukars remain 2.5 games back of the Rockies with 12 games left to play, thanks to the Grand Junction loss. Idaho Falls plays a doubleheader against Orem Monday, starting at 5:30.
