“It’s not the biggest lead I’ve ever had, but I’m still in control of this golf tournament,” McIlroy said “It’s a great position to be in.”

McIlroy holds a one-stroke lead over 28-year-old Austrian Bernd Wiesberger, who tied Hunter Mahan for the low round of the day with a 6-under 65 and is 12-under for the tournament.

“This is a dream come true,” said Wiesberger, who is heading into only his second Sunday at a major. “I’m very proud of myself, the way I played today. This is a completely new situation for me.”

Rickie Fowler is in third, two strokes off the lead, while Phil Mickelson and Jason Day both are three strokes back heading into Sunday at Valhalla.
