(POCATELLO, ID) – The U.S. Postal Service’s mail processing center in Pocatello could soon close. Federal officials have plans to shutter 86 facilities in 2015, including the location off of Flandro Drive.

The processing center has been on the chopping block for nearly three years, but previous closures have been delayed until consolidated processing centers can be updated elsewhere.

They hope to close Pocatello’s facility sometime next week, with all operations moving to Salt Lake City.

UPDATE – East Idaho News has received word from Brian Sperry of the USPS.  “The story states the change will take place next week. Actually the change is estimated to take place in April of 2015 and it’s not all operations, only the mail processing operations will move to Salt Lake City. The building will remain open as a Post Office.”
