It’s Williams’ sixth U.S. Open title and 18th Grand Slam singles title, which ties Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova for the fourth most all-time.

“I have been trying to reach it for so long, since last year, well, since the beginning of the year,” Williams said on reaching 18 Grand Slam championships. “I didn’t really think I would get there. I just felt so good.”

Williams cruised through the entire tournament, winning in all 14 sets she played.

The 32-year-old American is now the oldest major champion since Martina Navratilova won at Wimbledon at the age of 33 in 1990.
