Idaho Falls, Idaho —  The Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce launched their CEO Speaker Series on Thursday afternoon at the ARTitorium in Idaho Falls.  The first CEO on the series was CEO of Melaleuca, Frank VanderSloot.

CEO of the Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce, Michelle Holt conducted the on stage interview of Mr.  VanderSloot.  VanderSloot answered questions about the growth of Melaleuca.  He discussed the original company, Oil of Melaleuca, Inc., and how it failed, yet out of that failure came the successful company we know today. Topics covered by Mr. VanderSloot in the hour conversation were the importance of business and the free enterprise system in American and Idaho, organizational management, the role of mentors in business and the importance of education of our youth.

VanderSloot’s advice on dealing with failure and success; “If you say that person is a success.  That person has failed more likely; more than the person you deemed a failure. Just that that person got back up every single time. That person used their experience when they fell down and learned from it and kept going and now that person is experiencing success.  That’s all you can say.  Truthfully that person is experiencing success.Tomorrow that person could experience failure.  I suspect they’re going to get back up, but it’s not what it is cooked up to be and once you understand that then you don’t get fearful anymore about trying something because you could fail. It’s okay…. Failure isn’t a bad thing.”
