(NEW YORK) — Rumors have swirled regarding the future of San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, and they only escalated on Thursday with a 19-3 loss to Seattle.
The one person who does not seem to be concerned with those rumors is Harbaugh.
“I really, I don’t worry about my future,” Harbaugh said Monday in his weekly media conference. “I haven’t participated in any of that speculation. I just, I think I have a recessive gene for worrying about my own future.”
Many reports have stated that Harbaugh could be trade bait if the 49ers do not make the playoffs in 2015. The 51-year old has one year remaining on his five-year contract.
One of the teams cited as a potential destination for Harbaugh is the Oakland Raiders, the team San Francisco plays this weekend.
The rumors gained momentum after Niners CEO Jed York tweeted his displeasure with the team’s performance against the Seahawks on Thanksgiving. York has since tweeted an apology for his comments.
“To me, that’s not significant,” said Harbaugh. “What’s significant is we move on without excuse and get it right. Make it right. That’s our jobs.”
