The flight, called Flight 1, traveled from Atlanta to Tampa and landed late Sunday night, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The flight path traced the route of the airline’s first flight in 1993.

With more than 740 people on the standby list, employees and customers of the carrier hoped to grab one of the coveted seats.

Now that AirTran is almost completely integrated into Southwest, the mood in the terminal was celebratory, the Journal-Constitution reported. Southwest officials commemorated the final AirTran flight with balloons, a DJ and a photo booth.
