FTC: Dish Network Repeatedly Violated Do Not Call Registry

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Have you received a harassing or annoying telemarketing call from Dish Network? If so, you’re not the only one.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, Dish Network violated the “Do Not Call” registry tens of millions of times. Even phone numbers on the company’s internal do-not-call list received prerecorded telemarketing messages pitching satellite television programming and services.

In some cases, the calls came from Dish itself; in others, they came from outside vendors Dish authorized.

In one such call, a recorded message gave the recipient an option to press 1 to signal interest in Dish.

The company and regulators are scheduled to square off in court this summer.
