Wall Street Posts Gains, Home Construction Rises in December
Published at(NEW YORK) — Wall Street posted small gains on Wednesday, though smaller than early-session figures, after home construction numbers reportedly increased in December.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 47.61, ending the session at 17,562.84.
The Nasdaq gained 12.74 to close at 4,667.59, while the S&P 500 finished the day at 2,033.32, up 10.77 from its open.
The National Association of Home Builders on Wednesday said that the beginning of construction on single-family homes rose 4.4 percent in December. NAHB Chief Economist David Crowe said in a statement that the group “[expects] this momentum to carry forward in 2015.”
