Study: Three Cups of Coffee Per Day Linked to Lower Risk of Endometrial Cancer
Published at(NEW YORK) — A new study found that women who drink three cups of coffee or more per day may be at lower risk of endometrial cancer.
According to the study, published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention, looked at data from over 300,000 women based on their dietary patterns. Each participant was followed for between 10 and 25 years as part of the study. After the dietary questionnaires, researchers collected endometrial cancer data from the participants’ medical records.
According to the data, women who consumed three cups of coffee or more daily were 18 percent less likely to develop endometrial cancer.
Researchers note that this data shows only an association, and not that the coffee consumed caused the lower cancer risk. Additionally, there was multiple-year lag time between the dietary study and the cancer data being collected, allowing for a possible change in diet and coffee intake.
