Arizona Cardinals Rookie Shot, Wounded in Ohio Hometown
Published at | Updated at(TOLEDO, Ohio) — Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Damond Powell was reportedly shot in his hometown of Toledo on Friday evening.
The Cardinals released a statement on Saturday saying that they were “aware” of the incident and that Powell was hospitalized. “We have been in communication with his family to offer whatever support and resources we can provide,” the team said, “we will continue to monitor and provide updates as appropriate.”
Powell played college football at the University of Iowa, registering 19 catches for 317 yards and three touchdowns in his senior year. He was signed as an undrafted rookie earlier this year.
