Chrysler Recalling 88,000 Dodge Challengers with Air Bag Issue

Terribil-T//iStock Editorial/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Chrysler is recalling more than 88,000 Dodge Challengers with faulty air bags in an expansion of the recall related to air bags manufactured by Takata Corporation.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration says the vehicles, from the 2008 to 2010 model years, are equipped with air bags that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion. That, the agency says, “could cause the [air bag] inflator to rupture.”
The ruptured airbag could cause metal fragments to strike vehicle occupants.
Chrysler plans to notify owners and dealers and replace the air bag inflator free of charge.
