Spieth opened the tournament with a par round of 71, shot a career-best 61 in Saturday’s third round and a strong 68 on Sunday. His four birdies on the back nine forced a playoff with Tom Gillis.

On the second playoff hole, Spieth took home the win.

Spieth will go into the British Open with wins in each of his last two major tournaments — the Masters and the U.S. Open.
