Trump has been a lightning rod since comments made during his campaign announcement about Mexican immigrants. His supporters outnumbered protesters by a margin of about three-to-one on Saturday.

Still, Trump vowed that if he wins the Republican nomination, he would also win the Hispanic vote, “because I’m taking jobs back from China, I’m taking jobs back from many places.”

“The word is getting out that we have to stop illegal immigration,” Trump said. He added that his wife “is a legal immigrant” who “went through a whole long process.”

“It’s not easy, and we should maybe make it easier, and faster, which I think is fine.”
