EAST IDAHO EATS: A taste of the south at Crissy’s Chicken

ST ANTHONY — Crissy’s Chicken To Go is home to its well known sticky nuggets — fried chicken coated in a sweet secret sauce.

Almost seven years ago, owner Crissy Harris and her husband started the restaurant to bring something new to the St. Anthony. They also wanted to preserve a building that held historic value to the community.

“We are going on the seven-year mark,” owner Crissy Harris said, “They were going to tear this building down, and I had done this kind of work previously. He just come to me one day, and said,’Honey, we need to open up a restaurant.’ I said, ‘Well what are we going to put in this restaurant?’ and he says, ‘I think we need to do chicken.'”

People come not only from St. Anthony for her dishes, but also the surrounding areas.

“We get a lot of people from Madison County that come up here just to eat here. A lot of loyal Fremont County customers.” Harris said.

As Crissy’s popularity grew, so did the size of the restaurant. What started out as a diner that could only seat 11, recently expanded by 1,500 square feet.

“This is my first time being back for a while,” said Ethan Gilstrap of St. Anthony. “I came back, and now they have the whole diner and everything. They just kind of had the front counter before I left.”

Emma Daybell of Salem accompanied Gilstrap and said she was more than satisfied with her meal.

“I got the sticky nugget — that’s his favorite so I copied him — and I really liked it,” said Daybell. “It was really good. I would definitely come here and eat it again.”

Crissy says that she will continue to keep customers happy by simply listening to their requests.
