Netflix Announces Unlimited Maternity and Paternity Leave for Employees
Published at | Updated at(LOS GATOS, Calif.) — New parents at Netflix will be getting unlimited maternity and paternity leave.
In a press release Tuesday, Netflix announced they would allow employees to take off “as much time as they want during the first year after a child’s birth or adoption.”
According to the press release, the streaming service wants employees to be able to have the “flexibility” and “confidence” to spend time with their families without having to worry about work.
New parents would be able to come back to work part-time, full-time, or return and leave as needed.
“We’ll just keep paying them normally, eliminating the headache of switching to state or disability pay,” said the press release. “Each employee gets to figure out what’s best for them and their family, and then works with their managers for coverage during their absences.”
More progressive parental leave policies are becoming more popular. Facebook currently offers new parents four months off and new moms at Apple have 14 weeks of maternity leave.
