IDAHO FALLS — Preparations are already underway for city elections in November.

Those interested in running for public office need to apply between Aug. 24 and Sept. 4. Residents can seek office for city council, mayor or district representative seats.

Individuals who file late will be required to run as a write-in candidate, and will not be able to have their name listed on the ballot.

A Declaration of Candidacy form is required for those wanting to be elected. A nonrefundable filing fee of $40 dollars, or a petition of candidacy signed by at least five qualified city electors is required. Candidacy forms will be located at city, district and county offices.

Additionally, candidates must affirm that they are a qualified elector, 18 years of age, a U.S. Citizen and live within city limits.

For filing information contact your local city or county office.
