Local schools do great at Tiger-Grizz cross country meet

IDAHO FALLS — Local schools had a great day at the Tiger-Grizz Invitational cross country meet on Friday.

Sugar-Salem High School won the small schools boy’s race with Jace Harris taking first and Madison High School’s girls team took the large school trophy with Rachel Morrin as the medalist. The Sugar-Salem girls took second behind Soda Spring, but the Diggers Shaylee Hill was the girl’s small school medalist and fifth overall in the race.

In the boy’s large school division, Star Valley High School from Wyoming took the title with Skyline High School in second place and Madison taking third. The medalist was Shane Henderson from Star Valley just edging out Coen Haroldsen of Bonneville High School and Stephan Stutz from Madison.

Sugar-Salem’s Shaylee Hill placed fifth overall, but won the girl’s small school race.

Rachel Morrin of Madison led by 20 yards by the first mile and that lead built to 200 yards by the end of the race.

Michelle Pratt of Blackfoot and Billie Hatch of Preston were neck-and-neck with 100 meters to go with Pratt holding off Hatch for second place overall.

CC5-15
The early leaders of the boy’s race were Stephen Stutz of Madison and Coen Haroldsen of Bonneville. Haroldsen ended up second with Stutz third in the overall placing.

Sugar-Salem’s Jace Hymas was the boy’s small school medalist by taking eleventh overall in the boy’s race.
