POCATELLO – A man is in custody after police say he shot a gun at Pocatello police officers the night of Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Detectives say officers attempted to stop a vehicle being driven by Zachery L. Davis, 24, on Shore road around 10 p.m. Davis allegedly fired three rounds at officers, striking a patrol vehicle in the driver’s door.

Police say they tried to pull Davis over so they could arrest him on grand theft and eluding warrants. Detectives said after Davis fired on officers, he ran away.

The PPD Immediate Response Unit, PPD K-9s and the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office Bearcat all responded to the area to search for Davis. An emergency alert was sent out to warn area residents to stay indoors for their safety.

Early Wednesday morning, officers who were overseeing the safety of students at bus stops spotted Davis in the area of Fifth and Jason. He was arrested around 8 a.m. at the Common Cents at 3957 S Fifth Ave.

Update: Officers have found the gun used in Tuesday night’s shooting.

“The Pocatello Police Department would like to thank the public for their assistance to officers and for remaining calm during the incident,” police said in an update Wednesday morning.
