Name: Sally Smith

City: Rexburg

Office: City Council

Rexburg native Sally Smith has long had a pulse on what is going on in Rexburg.

That is partly due to a rich heritage in serving the community, as her maternal grandfather was state Republican chairman years back, and her mother served as the first woman on the Rexburg City Council.

Keeping the legacy alive is one of her main motivations for seeking re-election on the council.

Smith, a real estate agent since 1979, serves on the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce board and has served as president of Madison Economic Partners as well as on the Family Crisis Board.

Helping create jobs in Rexburg is one of her goals for strengthening the city’s economy and helping keep the community’s kids local rather than being forced to move away to find a job.

Smith wants to continue the rich relations the city has built with BYU-Idaho. She feels her real estate experience has been a plus to the council in helping create and be a part of a zoning task force that helps determine where development should go.
