REXBURG – An 18-year-old man is facing a felony charge after police say he traded naked photos of his girlfriend for vaping supplies.

Triston Smith-Eisermann allegedly had 20 photographs of the nude 17-year-old girl on his smartphone.

According to court documents, Smith-Eisermann’s mother discovered the photos when her son used her phone to log onto Facebook.

He didn’t log off and his mother allegedly saw the photos on his Facebook messenger account.

She contacted the Rexburg Police Department and detectives began an investigation.

Investigators say they uncovered messages on the Facebook messenger thread where Smith-Eisermann told a friend that his girlfriend had “got (him) some vape supplies for free.”

“I sent a guy at the vape shop nudies of (victim’s name) for $200 worth of vape stuff,” a message on Aug. 4 reads, according to documents.

The vape shop was not named in court documents.

Triston Smith-Eisermann is facing a felony charge of sexual exploitation of a child. He will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 1.

Rexburg police say they are still investigating the case and declined to release additional information.
