Taking charge of Christmas

  Published at  | Updated at

ITS CHRISTMAS WEEK!!!!! AUGH! I forgot a friend and family member and need to get more gifts. I keep getting candy, cookies, warm cider and all kinds of yummy … bad for me’s. But all the ‘bad for me’s’ are Ok just this moment because it is Christmas. I am losing sleep thinking of everything I still have to do. Did I show enough Love? Did I remember all the angels in my life that made me feel great? Did I this, Did I that??? WOW, why do I do this to myself? I know better, but for some reason what I know and what I do are different. It’s Christmas! The day of the year almost every consumer business is closed. We are forced to be with family and loved ones. Why not enjoy it. So today I change. I take charge and enjoy , here are some of the secrets for me.

Ignore the Scale

I will not lose 20 pounds just 3 day before all the family pictures have to be taken, so I will be in the pictures with a smile , put together and proud to be walking, talking, smiling, living and laughing. I will know that my scale is not a definition or a reason not to enjoy those I love. I will take and be in pictures! When I see the pictures (even the bad ones) I will not delete them. I will let the real me be my memories.

Sleep

I will give myself the gift of sleep. I will stop worrying about things I cannot do in the middle of the night. A full day of shopping cannot be done when the stores are closed. A full day of living can’t be done when everyone in my life is asleep. I will write down a list. I will do all I can do, and forgive the rest. I will sleep and stop wasting energy worrying about things I cannot fix. Worrying is a waste of good energy that could be spent doing something.

I Will LOVE!

I will LOVE, I will accept those around me and serve and give. I will go and give a hug. I will sit by those who I do not know. I will go and do this last little bit of the Holiday season. I will stop talking myself out of what I know is right. I will Love.

I will make a plan. No more reacting, I will wake up and act! I will get back-up gifts for people that were not on my radar, but are in my heart. I will work out a little harder so the “bad-for-me treats” don’t hurt as bad. I will shop with purpose and will stop procrastinating,

I will be beautiful this Holiday season I will make Christmas a time of Joy; not fear and stress. I will make a difference for myself and those around me. Beauty is more than appearances; it is who you love and those that love you and the good you do for the world. Merry Christmas and have a beautiful week. I will!
