Epic Full Moon Lights Up Christmas for First Time in Nearly 40 Years

(NEW YORK) —  Santa and his reindeer had some extra light by which to navigate the sky this Christmas morning.

Friday marked the first time a full moon has occurred on Christmas since 1977.

The moon reached its peak size at 6:11 a.m. ET.

Many took to social media to document the rare event.

The next time a full moon will fall on Christmas day? The year 2034 at 3:54 a.m.
