RIGBY — A Jefferson County man is in custody after he allegedly fired a gun in a church parking lot Friday, Jan. 8.

At approximately 10:23 p.m. Jefferson County Sheriff deputies responded to a report of shots fired at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, at 3431 E 100 N in Jefferson County.

Police reports show Jefferson County Dispatch received a report of a male in a tan Blazer or Bronco styled vehicle, who had pulled into the church parking lot and fired a weapon.

Detective Sam Tower said deputies responded and approximately ten minutes later, located a vehicle, matching the description. The male driver was called out by the deputies and was detained without incident, according to a news release.

The suspect, Michael Frandsen was booked into the Jefferson County Jail for the charges of driving under the influence, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

During the investigation, deputies located a .40 caliber firearm and multiple rounds of ammunition in the suspect’s vehicle.

A window at the church was broken, and it is still under investigation as to whether the incident created the damage or not.

In the event that the damage was caused by the suspect, he will face additional charges, Tower said in a news release.
