REXBURG — Police say they found a loaded rifle in the vehicle of a man minutes after he allegedly threatened a worker with a box cutter knife.

Richardo Ormsby, 30, is charged with felony aggravated assault and driving with a suspended license.

Rexburg Police Captain Randy Lewis says Ormsby walked into Smart Cents Auto Sales Wednesday, Jan. 27 and demanded to be paid for clearing snow. The owner of the company claimed Ormsby had never done any work and the two began to argue, according to Lewis.

At one point, Ormsby is accused of pulling out a box cutter and threatening the worker.

A passerby broke up the argument and Ormsby left the business, according to Lewis. A short time later, officers stopped Ormsby’s vehicle and police say they found a loaded .22 rifle along with the box cutter knife.

Ormsby was taken into custody and booked into the Madison County Jail on $30,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 10.
