IDAHO FALLS — Three local churches are coming together to raise money for a community bible event this summer.

The First Presbyterian Church, New Day Lutheran Church and Grace Falls Church will be hosting an all you can eat pancake breakfast on Saturday Apr. 9.

The churches are hoping to raise around $3,000 to cover costs of a Vacation Bible School event on July 15 to 17 at Sunnyside Park. Organizers are trying to raise enough money to make the event free to the public.

Breakfast will be open to the community with a suggested donation of $5 per person. There will be all you can eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit and toppings.

This is the second year of the Vacation Bible School and the theme is Jungle Beats inspired by the story ‘The Jungle Book’.

“We had a great turnout last year and we’re excited to do it again,” Pastor Gina Herman of New Day Lutheran said.

Sam Bays, an organizer from First Presbyterian Church, said it’s exciting to see people of various faiths come together.

“People in their retirement years, to the fourth graders, to the teenage youth leaders, people from different churches— seeing all that come together almost spontaneously is really inspiring,” Bays said.

Herman says both events are for anyone in the community regardless of age. The pancake breakfast will begin at 9 a.m. and run through 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.
