ORIGINAL STORY

BLACKFOOT — An 11-year-old girl drowned Tuesday night and her 8-year-old brother is fighting for his life.

Authorities say fire and EMS crews were called to a Blackfoot home on the 800 block of Jewel St. around 5:15 p.m. for a report of two children who were not breathing in a backyard swimming pool.

CPR was administered and the girl and boy were rushed to the Bingham Memorial Hospital.

The girl was pronounced dead and her brother was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he is in critical condition.

Neighbors say the boy saw his sister in distress and tried to save her when “something went wrong.”
