CHEYENNE, Wyoming — When police responded to a robbery report arrived at a US Bank Friday, they say they found the suspect sitting on the curb waiting to be arrested.

Linda Patricia Thompson, 59, reportedly walked into the bank and handed a note to a teller that said, “I have a gun. Give me all your money.”

The Associated Press reports that Thompson then walked out of the bank with thousands of dollars in cash, threw some in the air and handed more to passersby as she waited for police to arrive.

Cheyenne Police Lt. Nathan Busek arrived and asked Thompson what was going on.

“I just robbed the bank. I want to go back to prison,” she said.

Thompson told police that she couldn’t get a room at a homeless shelter, the AP reported.

Thompson reportedly told authorities that she robbed the bank because she couldn’t stay on the streets, the AP reported.

She served time at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville and was released in June. Back then, according to the AP, Thompson told police that she didn’t want to be released because she wouldn’t do well on parole.
