JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 25-year-old man suspected in a rash of vehicle burglaries was arrested after a summer-long investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Mark Vielma was arrested on 11 felony counts of vehicle burglary, the sheriff’s office announced Friday.

The burglaries began in June. As police investigated the thefts, detective Dustin Johnson was able to uncover information that led detectives and other deputies to the Cambridge subdivision on Monday night. How law enforcement obtained that information was undisclosed.

While watching the area, deputies said a vehicle not known to the subdivision was seen driving around. During the time this vehicle was in the subdivision, multiple vehicles had been burglarized.

Deputies pulled over the vehicle before it left the subdivision.

The driver, Vielma, was found in possession of stolen property and burglary tools and was arrested.

The burglaries are still under investigation, and additional arrests are pending, the sheriff’s office said.

According to court records, Vielma has a felony burglary conviction from Bonneville County in 2009, and felony probation violation convictions in 2013 and 2015. Vielma was ordered to a rider program within the Idaho Department of Correction in early 2015 and was released in July 2015.

Vielma has a preliminary hearing set for later this month and remains in the Jefferson County Jail on a $30,000 bond. However, due to the fact that he’s on felony probation, he will have to answer to his alleged probation violations before he is released.
