IDAHO FALLS — A Walmart cashier allegedly stole money from her register more than 20 times.

Desire Dennis, 23, was arrested for grand theft after stealing thousands of dollars from her employer, Walmart on South Utah Avenue in Idaho Falls, police said.

Officers responded to Walmart for a report of an employee theft. Walmart loss prevention said Dennis had been caught taking money from her register at least 21 times between Sept. 10 and Oct. 11.

Walmart estimated she took $3,500 in cash, Idaho Falls police said in a news release Monday.

Dennis, of Idaho Falls, was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on Thursday night on a felony grand theft charge.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.
