Ammon mayor chooses not to run for 2nd term

AMMON — The mayor of Ammon has announced that this is her last term.

“It’s just the right time for me,” Dana Kirkham tells EastIdahoNews.com of not running for re-election in November. “I have enjoyed my time as mayor.”

Kirkham joined the Ammon City Council in 2006 and served two terms before being elected mayor in 2013. She replaced incumbent Steve Fuhriman in 2014.

She had previously worked for the State Department and Central Intelligence Agency.

Kirkham says she’s leaving her options open on what she’s going to do next.

City Councilman Sean Coletti has announced his intention to run for Ammon mayor on Twitter.

“I am running for Mayor of Ammon because I really care about our great community and want to see a solid continuation of good leadership after the conclusion of Mayor Kirkham’s term,” Coletti says in a statement to EastIdahoNews.com. “I believe the future for Ammon is bright and exciting, and I am ready for it.”
