Driver destroys mailboxes, leaves obvious clue behind

BONNEVILLE COUNTY — A driver who smashed into mailboxes didn’t speak to anyone or leave a note. Instead, a license plate was left behind.

With the help of the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Holly Briggs is one step closer to finding the person responsible for destroying her mailbox and leaving the scene.

Briggs first noticed the damage Wednesday morning when she left her home on the Lewisville Highway.

While taking pictures of the damage, and calling the police to report it, Briggs discovered a license plate left behind.

Though Briggs said she is expecting packages to be delivered, her destroyed mailbox is a temporary setback.

Originally Briggs planned to have her uncle fix the box but discovered it missing Wednesday afternoon.

“So maybe my neighbor is fixing it?” said Briggs, who found some humor in the situation.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the damage and the left-behind license plate.
