Legendary rockers Korn coming to conquer Pocatello

If you could boil the sound of 1990s hard rock down to its most essential bands, you’d be left with an impressive roster of amazing artists. Nirvana. Tool. Soundgarden. Faith No More. And Korn stands as tall as any of those bands. Rumbling to life in Bakersfield, Calif., and conquering the rock world during the 90s, Korn has unleashed seven platinum albums, won two Grammys, been nominated for five others and amassed a legion of dedicated fans in the process.

And on June 26, Korn will drop in on Pocatello to put on a show at the Portneuf Health Trust Amphitheatre.

“If you are a modern rock fan, this is one of your dream shows.”

Local rock fans are excited, to put it mildly.

“This has without a doubt been the strongest and most rabid reaction to a concert announcement I’ve ever seen during my years here at K-Bear,” says K-Bear 101’s Viktor Wilt. “Korn is one of the biggest rock bands on the planet, without question. I don’t know how many people have texted me today telling me how excited they are because Korn is the best live band they’ve ever seen.”

Joining Korn will be another of modern rock’s biggest bands, Stone Sour. Fronted by Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor, Stone Sour have scored hits with tracks like “Bother” and “Through Glass” and racked up three Grammy nominations.

“Korn and Stone Sour run the gamut of every type of rock and metal that the K-Bear audience tunes in every day for,” says Wilt. “If you are a modern rock fan, this is one of your dream shows, and to not have to drive to a bigger city to see it has everyone stoked beyond belief!”

Wilt says east Idaho rock fans deserve the credit for making this show a reality.

“(The fans) have shown that there is absolutely a demand for bigger rock bands in the area. I know that east Idaho is going to put itself on the map as a concert destination that every band needs to hit with their support of this massive show!” he said.

Joining in the action will be up-and-comers Islander.

And for those of you who aren’t so into heavy rock, The Piano Guys are set to hit the venue Aug. 18.
