The following is a news release from the city of Pocatello.

POCATELLO — New numbers are building a strong picture of the Gate City’s construction industry.

In a new analysis of federal employment data from the Associated General Contractors of America, the Pocatello metro area checks in at third in the nation for the number of construction jobs added by percentage.

The Gate City added 400 construction jobs from January 2016 to January 2017, an increase of 29 percent. The report looked at 358 metro areas across the country.

“It’s encouraging to see the statistics reflect the development of our local economy,” said Mayor Brian Blad. “New businesses are coming to the area, existing businesses are expanding, new homes are being built, and the growth is obviously reflected by these numbers.”

As a state, Idaho ranked at second in the nation. Click here to view the report.
