IDAHO FALLS — Local authorities responded to several accidents around midday Saturday.

At noon, Idaho State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Sunnyside Road and South Yellowstone Highway.

Police reports show Jessica Means, 37, of Idaho Falls was driving westbound on Sunnyside, turning southbound onto South Yellowstone Highway in a Chrysler minivan. Alyssa Rice, 22, of Idaho Falls was eastbound on Sunnyside in a Buick LeSabre.

Means failed to yield to Rice and entered the intersection. Rice struck Means’ van, which then overturned, and both vehicles came to rest in the intersection, according to a news release.

All drivers and passengers were wearing their seatbelts. Airbags were deployed in the Buick.

Rice was transported to Eastern Idaho Medical Center, as was one passenger in the minivan. Their injuries are unknown.

ISP was assisted by the Idaho Falls Police Department, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Falls Fire Department and Ambulance.

Additionally, a single car wreck occurred on Sunnyside Road near Basic American Foods around 2 p.m. Witnesses say a small pickup truck smashed into a power pole. The pole was damaged, but the line was not severed, officials said.

Authorities tell EastIdahoNews.com the vehicle was traveling east on Sunnyside when the male driver experienced a medical issue that contributed to the crash. The driver and an adult female passenger were cut from the truck and transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

In addition to emergency personnel, Idaho Falls Power and Rocky Mountain Power responded to take care of the damaged power pole.
