DAILY FORECAST: Decent weather and road construction

IDAHO FALLS — The flood warning along the Snake River in Bingham County is no longer in effect for Wednesday, April 19.

However, a flood warning remains in effect for the Portneuf River. The river is still a foot above flood stage at 9.8 feet. Minor flooding is occurring along its banks and water is expected to rise above 10 feet by Thursday causing moderate flooding.

Significant flooding of agricultural land will occur near the Inkom and Blackrock area. Lowland flooding will occur along sections of the river in Pocatello from the Portnuef Gap to the Cheyenne Avenue Bridge and downstream of the concrete channel beginning at Sacajawea Park.

Additionally, a flood advisory is still in effect for the Bear River in Bear Lake County. The river remains elevated and is slightly above its banks from Montpelier to the Wyoming State Line. Some minor field and dirt road flooding is occurring near Pegram and Dingle.

ROAD REPORT

The Lewisville Highway in Bonneville and Jefferson County (North Fifth East) has been closed due to construction on a nearby culvert. Traffic is being diverted to North Fifth West. The construction project is expected to be complete by 5 p.m. Thursday.

Bridge construction on Idaho Highway 31 between Swan Valley and Victor has reduced a portion of the road to one lane until Friday.

Construction on northbound Interstate 15 between exit 72 (Chubbuck) and exit 80 (Fort Hall) has been reduced to one lane due to bridge maintenance. Expect delays and reduced speed of 65 mph through May 12.

Idaho Falls, Rigby and Rexburg

The Upper Snake River Plain will see a mix of sun and clouds with a chance for rain and thunderstorms. Highs of 58 degrees are expected with southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph. At night the chance for rain continues with lows of 38 degrees.

Pocatello and Blackfoot

The Lower Snake River Plain will see a mix of sun and clouds today with a chance for rain and thunderstorms. Highs of 59 degrees are expected with southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph. It’ll be cloudy at night with lows of 40 degrees.

St. Anthony, Ashton, Island Park, Driggs and Victor

The Upper Snake Highlands will be mostly cloudy today with isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs of 55 degrees are expected with southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph. There is a 30 percent chance of rain at night with lows of 34 degrees.
