DAILY FORECAST: Mostly sunny with isolated snow showers

IDAHO FALLS β€” Eastern Idaho is having a snowy morning for Sunday, April 9, and scattered snow showers will continue for most of the morning and parts of the afternoon.

The following counties remain under a winter weather advisory: Bear Lake, Franklin, Caribou, Bannock, western Bonneville and western Bingham, Clark, Fremont, Teton, western Madison and Lemhi. About 1 to 2 inches of snow is expected to fall in the region today.

Additionally, Madison, Jefferson, Bonneville, Bingham, and Butte counties are under a special weather advisory this morning. About an inch of snow is possible in the region during the morning hours.

Northern Utah also is under a winter weather advisory.

Flood conditions are worsening on the Portneuf River. It is measuring above flood stage at 9.6 feet. Minor flooding is occurring along its banks. The river is expected to rise to 10.3 feet by next Saturday causing moderate flooding of agricultural land near the river.

The Bear River in Bear Lake County remains beneath flood stage, but residual flooding is being reported along the river banks.

ROAD REPORT

No major road closures are being reported as of 8 a.m. Sunday.

The Idaho Department of Transportation reports difficult conditions on the following roads due to icy patches, snow or slush on the roadway.

  • U.S. Highway 20 between St. Anthony and the Montana State Line.
  • Idaho Highway 32 between Lamont and and Tetonia
  • Idaho Highway 33 between Tetonia and the Wyoming State Line.
  • Idaho Highway 31 between Swan Valley and the Wyoming State Line
  • U.S. Highway 89 between Montpelier and the Wyoming State Line
  • U.S. Highway 30 between Georgetown and the Wyoming State Line
  • Idaho Highway 26 between Liberty and Ovid
  • Interstate 15 between Dubois and Lima, Montana
  • Idaho Highway 26 between Leadore and the Montana State Line

Construction on northbound Interstate 15 between exit 72 (Chubbuck) and exit 80 (Fort Hall) has been reduced to one lane due to bridge maintenance. Expect delays and reduced speed of 65 mph through May 12.

Idaho Falls, Rigby and Rexburg

It’ll be partly sunny today with scattered snow showers in the morning. The region will be breezy with west winds of 15 to 25 mph. Highs of 40 to 47 degrees are expected. It’ll be cloudy at night with some fog after midnight. Lows of 24 to 31 degrees are expected with decreasing southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph.

Pocatello and Blackfoot

The Lower Snake River Plain will see isolated snow showers in the morning. It’ll be windy with speeds of 20 to 30 mph and highs of 39 to 48 degrees. It’ll be clear at night with some patchy fog after midnight. Lows of 25 to 32 degrees are expected with decreasing winds of 10 to 15 mph.

St. Anthony, Ashton, Island Park, Driggs and Victor

The Upper Snake Highlands will be mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers throughout the day. Up to 2 inches of snow could fall with highs of 36 to 43 degrees. It’ll be partly cloudy at night with lows of 18 to 25 degrees.

Arco, Challis and Mackay

It’ll be mostly sunny in the Lost River area today, but with some scattered snow showers in the morning. It’ll be breezy with highs of 37 to 45 degrees. It’ll be partly cloudy at night with lows of 22 to 29 degrees.

Henry, Soda Springs, Downey and Lava Hot Springs

The Caribou Highlands will be partly sunny today with scattered snow showers. Up to 3 inches of snow is possible. Highs of 37 to 44 degrees are expected. It’ll be partly cloudy at night with lows of 20 to 27 degrees.
