RIRIE — A downed power line has knocked out electricity for about 1,280 customers in Ririe and Rigby.

It is the second power outage of the day in east Idaho. Earlier, 2,800 customers in Madison and Fremont County were without power for several hours due to a transmission interruption.

The latest outage began at 12:45 p.m., Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Paul Murphy said, due to a downed line at 40th East and County Line Road near the new Westwood substation. It’s unclear what caused the damage to the power lines.

Crews have been dispatched to repair the line. Power should be restored by 4 p.m.

Murphy advises residents to avoid the area until the lines are fixed.
