LDS Church President released from hospital

SALT LAKE CITY — Thomas S. Monson, the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, is out of the hospital after being admitted earlier this week.

“President Monson was released from the hospital last evening, and plans to resume his normal schedule and duties today,” Eric Hawkins, a spokesman for the church, said in a statement to EastIdahoNews.com Thursday morning.

Pres. Monson was hospitalized Monday evening after not feeling well. The 89-year-old leader received treatments and fluids during his two-day hospital stay, according to Hawkins.

Pres. Monson attended the morning and priesthood sessions of the 187th Annual General Conference last weekend, but remained at home for the afternoon sessions. He has led the 15.8-million member faith for nine years.
