The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office was called to Snake River Road near Burns Creek at 12:40 a.m. Sunday for a report of a vehicle that went into the Snake River.

Deputies spoke with a man who said he was a passenger in an SUV that went in the water, according to a news release.

The man told police the SUV was being driven by 33-year-old Brandon Tyler Osborne of Ammon, when he lost control and went off the road and into the river.

The man who was talking to police and two other adult passengers, a man and a woman, were able to escape the vehicle as it was submerging and floating downstream with the heavy current.

The man told police he did not see Osborne get out of the vehicle, and they could not find him at that time. The male man walking out to get help while the other two passengers entered a nearby cabin to get warm.

With the assistance of the Air Idaho Rescue helicopter the vehicle was located downstream near the Fullmer Boat Ramp, approximately 1.7 miles downstream.

Deputies were able to get to the vehicle this morning by boat. They discovered Osborne inside deceased and were able to recover his body.

Due to the extremely hazardous conditions on the river deputies are still working to get the vehicle out of the water safely.

Deputies are investigating a one-vehicle fatality crash that occurred at around 2 a.m. on Blacktail Road in rural Bonneville County.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they made contact with a juvenile female driver who told police she had lost control of her SUV while turning a curve and went off the roadway and overturned down an embankment.

Two other male passengers were in the vehicle, a juvenile and 18-year-old Martin Cole Baler of Shelley. Baler was ejected from the vehicle and found dead on scene, according to a news release.

The female driver was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for minor injuries and the other male passenger was treated on scene by Idaho Falls Ambulance Personnel.
