UPDATE: Teenager on motorcycle in hospital after colliding with SUV

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office released the following information Wednesday evening:

On April 12 at approximately 6:38 p.m,. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an injury accident located at 518 N. Yellowstone Hwy in Jefferson County.

Further investigation revealed that a 17-year-old male juvenile from Rigby was operating a 2014 Honda motorcycle eastbound on 518 North.

According to witnesses, the juvenile failed to yield to the stop sign located at the intersection of 518 N. Yellowstone. The juvenile collided with a 2001 Ford Expedition that was traveling southbound on Yellowstone Hwy.

The Ford Expedition is owned and operated by 29-year-old, Kris Caudillo, from Rigby.

The juvenile male sustained serious injuries to his lower left leg and was transported by life flight to E.I.R.M.C. but is expected to survive. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Idaho State Police, Rigby Police Department and Central QRU.

RIGBY — A man riding a motorcycle was hit by an SUV and had to be flown to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with serious injuries Wednesday evening.

The crash happened at the intersection of North Yellowstone Highway and 518 North in Jefferson County around 7 p.m.

Idaho State Police, Jefferson County Sheriff deputies, Rigby Police and Central Fire authorities are all on the scene.

The driver of the SUV appears to be fine and the man on the motorcycle was conscious and speaking with paramedics, according to authorities. A helmet was seen near the motorcycle resting on the ground.

ISP has an accident reconstruction crew on the scene and officers may remain on the highway for several hours.
