The following is a news release from the Idaho Transportation Department.

POCATELLO – The Idaho Transportation Department has completed the first phase of Interstate 15 construction between the Fort Hall Reservation Boundary and Burns Road in Blackfoot. All lanes of I-15 will temporarily open in the six-mile work zone for the Memorial Day weekend.

On Wednesday (May 31), traffic will shift to the newly paved northbound lanes and crews will begin resurfacing the southbound side. I-15 will be reduced to one lane in both directions.

“We’re glad to report that construction is on schedule and the new pavement on the northbound side is ready for the holiday weekend,” said ITD Engineering Manager Dan Harelson. “ITD continues to remind motorists to plan extra time, pay attention and slow down.”

The Fort Hall to Burns project includes resurfacing six miles of I-15, upgrading guardrails and improving clearance below the bridge structures at the Railroad Overpass, Fort Hall Interchange and Sheepskin Road. It is one of 10 construction projects scheduled this year on I-15 in eastern Idaho.
